Mormon Prophets and Their Search for the True God

The first prophet of Mormonism declared, “I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil…” (Come Unto Me, p.95). Who did he refute? Mormon 9:10 reads, “And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then have ye imagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles.” Is God eternal? Moroni 7:22 says, “For behold, God knowing all things, being from everlasting to everlasting…” “he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity.” Moroni 8:18. Either words do not mean anything or Joseph Smith refuted the Book of Mormon!

Who is the god of Mormonism? Joseph Smith was sure he knew, saying, “he was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth” (Teachings, pp. 345-346). Now Mormonism isn’t sure. The current prophet, Hinckley, explained it this way, “I DON’T KNOW – I DON’T KNOW – I DON’T KNOW!” ¦”

Gordon B. Hinckley told Time Magazine, “I don’t know that we teach it, I don’t know that we emphasize it… I understand the philosophical background behind it, but I don’t know a lot about it, and I don’t think others know a lot about it.” (Time, Aug. 4, 1997, p. 56). So the “living prophet” does not know much about God, does he? Go figure – with all of the emphasis on vaults and genealogies, Gordon B. Hinckley does not even know the doctrines of Joseph Smith? Check these two websites for online information about the Hinckley interviews and the documentation of more lies from the Church’s head office!
