Understanding Our Times

Well, here you go. The very same videos with which Christians flooded my email celebrating the imminent Return of Christ are the very same ones being credited by non-believers as pointing to Maitreya’s arrival in this article. Just in case you haven’t heard, this quote from the article explains who Maitreya is: “Many now expect the return of their awaited Teacher, whether they call him the Christ, Messiah, the fifth Buddha, Krishna, Kalki Avatar or the Imam Mahdi.” Bible-believing Christians who understand the times in which we live know this “Teacher” to be nothing less than the ultimate Antichrist.

What I am sincerely distressed about is when Christians cannot clearly spiritually discern, identify, and articulate for themselves (much less non-believers) that such things are clearly Antichrist. Such brethren not only fuel self-deception about the times in which we live, but actually reinforce among everyone around them the very message and purpose of the spirit of antichrist who created such things to prepare the way for the ultimate Antichrist to come. In all honesty, this particular article is actually much better written and presented more clearly than nearly everything I have received over the past month from Christians, who are becoming so caught up in these things themselves that they don’t realize what they are actually supporting.

Do you think in Moses’ time that everyone said, “Oh, goodie! Jannes and Jambres just performed a miracle! God’s salvation is at hand”? And yet I have witnessed what amounts to Christian joy at seeing these things. Does anyone else see that cheering on Satan’s arrival because it hastens Christ’s Return is, at best, an oxymoron? And does anyone else see that when Christians celebrate the same events as Antichrist religions that they are reinforcing all the wrong things and losing what witness they have? At least the non-believers are closer to the truth. Christians have been holding the Temple Mount video to be God’s angel as a harbinger of Christ’s Return and the obvious video hoax of a rider on a horse as evidence one of the seals in Revelation have just been broken. Does anyone else want to weep when non-believers are closer to the truth than believers?

With all the people in so-called “discernment ministries” and the fact that every Christian is supposed to be scripturally grounded enough not just to recognize such things but to stand against them, I cannot fathom what is going to happen after these little “teaser” signs begin to be replaced by the real thing. As Jacob Prasch has often noted…

“If people professing to be Christians, even saved regenerate Christians, cannot due to their oblivious ignorance of biblical doctrine and lack of discernment identify obvious false signs and wonders, what will happen when real deception comes upon the world and the church? What hope can they possibly have of identifying the ultimate Antichrist and False Prophet”?
